Just 39 Years Old and President of an Airline
US Airways has promoted Scott Kirby as their new president and at 39 years old he is one of the youngest presidents of a Fortune 500 company. Doug Parker is still the chairman and CEO at the ripe old age of 44 and their CFO, Derek Kerr is 41. Kirby had previously served as an executive vice president of sales and marketing and will retain oversight of pricing, scheduling/planning, marketing, alliances, distribution, reservations and information technologies while assuming new responsibilities including airport customer service, finance and labor relations. According to Parker, Kirby played a critical role in the merger efforts of America West and US Airways and assisted with the company's new pricing strategy. Kirby joined the company in 1995 as a senior director of scheduling and planning. Kirby will have a base salary of $490,000. He also received 75,000 stock appreciation rights plus the ability to earn three different bonuses based on the company's performance as compared to its competitors. Luckily, Kirby is in an industry as whole hasn't performed very well in the last few years.
John Laub is the Chairman of the CEO-CFO Group.
