A little about Gabe from Gabriel's Angels & the CEO-CFO Golf Scramble
On Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 The Phoenix CEO-CFO Group will be hosting its annual golf tournament to benefit Gabriel's Angels. Presented by RSM McGladrey, The CEO-CFO Golf Scramble is open to all Executives in the Valley to raise funds for this great organization.
Gabriel's Angels Mission Statement: To deliver healing pet therapy to abused, neglected and at-risk children, nurturing their ability to love and trust, thereby freeing them from the cycle of violence.
For those of you who don't know, Gabe is the CED - (That's Chief Executive Dog) and he is a hard worker. In a recent interview with Gabe, here is what he had to say:
"My Pet Partner and mom asked me to write about my work with abused and at-risk children. Mom does an OK job explaining what it is that I do, but she often leaves out the most important part...how I feel about my visits with the kids. I want everyone to know that this is the best job a dog could ever have!
First of all, it is hard to describe it as work! I get to visit with children who absolutely adore me, shower me with hugs and kisses, brush me, take care of me, bring me water. Heck, I feel like a prince!! You have always said, mom, that it teaches the children how to treat animals with respect and kindness because they have never been taught that animals have feelings too. Well, they learn that every time they step on my toes!
It is true that I unconditionally love each child, but that is not work. It is simply what dogs do best! I listen and respond to the children when they tell me to "sit". You should see their faces beam; they seem very proud of themselves! Sometimes I think I must "sit" 40 to 50 times during my visit, but I keep doing it, because I like to please them. I know it enhances their self-esteem when I listen and do as they ask.
My kids also trust me, because I keep coming back just like I promised them. All good dogs keep their promises...thanks to mom who drives me to see them every week. But if she couldn't I would just take a cab...that is how dependable I am.
One of the bestest parts is that on the way home mom stops at the Bone Appetit Bakery and buys me a treat. All I can say is "Thanks mom, it was a great day! When do we get to go back?!"
Gabe and Pam are great at what they do and their teams will be at our Golf Outing to cheer you on!!! Please take a moment, even if you don't golf, to look at the Golf Scramble Page and see how you can help. We are now accepting Registrations, Sponsorships, Donations and Volunteers.
