Best Western Hires New CFO from Chicago
Phoenix-based Best Western International announced that it had hired Mark Straszynski as its CFO. Mr. Straszynski, 36 years old, was the Corporate Controller and Treasurer at Chicago-based United Plastics Group Inc. Straszynski had also served as an audit senior manager for Ernst & Young LLP. Straszynski earned an MBA from Northwestern University and a BS in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University. Straszynski replaces Thomas Johnson who left Best Western after 10 years with the company to pursue other interests.
Johnson has been employed with Best Western since 1998. In 2000 Johnson was promoted to Controller as a result of his efforts to reduce outstanding accounts receivable by 32% and implement new tax strategies. In 2005 Johnson was promoted to the CFO.
Johnson was a graduate of Arizona State University.
Best Western provides marketing, reservations and operational support to more than 4,000 independently owned member hotels in some 80 countries and territories worldwide.
