Former Dial CFO Sits on 3 Local Boards Becomes Chairman
Conrad A. Conrad, the former CFO from the Scottsdale-based Dial Corporation, was recently named the Chairman of the Board of Rural/Metro Corporation. Conrad A. Conrad sits on two other local boards. He is on the Board for Universal Technical Institute, Inc., where he is Chairman of the Audit Committee and the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, where he is also Chairman of the Audit Committee. There is life after retirement for CFOs.
Rural/Metro Corporation provides emergency and non-emergency ambulance services and private fire protection services in 23 states and approximately 400 communities throughout the United States. The company has seen its revenues and net income decline over the last three years. It has cut positions at its Southwest Ambulance subsidiary earlier this year and is building up its non-emergency ambulance service to make up for the loss of 911 contracts.
The company has a June 30th year end; however, it has released it quarterly financials for March 31, 2008 which showed an increase in revenue to $126 million from $111 million in the same quarter a year ago. The company also reported net income of $1.47 million as compared to a loss of $2.83 million loss for the previous quarter.
Its stock is trading in the middle of its 52-week range closing at $2.00 on September 2, 2008.
