CFO Conference in Las Vegas: Capital, Energy, Real Estate & a "Good Deal"

Finance executives are struggling with the turmoil in the housing, energy, and capital markets. To address these issues, CFO Conferences has announced that executives from Centex, Sempra Energy, and The Corporate Executive Board have joined the line-up at the 3rd annual CFO Rising West. The conference will be held at the JW Marriott in Las Vegas, October 14-17, 2008. The CFO Conference has offered a 2-for-1 deal for members of the Phoenix CEO-CFO Group. Up to 26 hours of CPE hours are available.

The 3rd Annual CFO Rising West is the biggest financial executive conference in the country this fall, hosted by CFO Magazine. In a year of economic and political upheaval, financial decision makers need to have the latest information (what are other companies doing) to help guide their companies through these treacherous times. The conference has financial leaders from companies such as Cisco Systems Inc., AT&T Mobility, General Electric Co. and The Pepsi Bottling Group Inc. speaking on current issues affecting finance. The attendees will also have the opportunity to network with a number of the top financial executives from across the country.

Mark Snell, CFO of Sempra Energy will discuss how his company transformed itself from a regional utility to a global player in natural gas, and he will offer insights on the future of energy. Cathy Smith, CFO, of Centex Corp., one of the nation's largest homebuilders, will speak on "The Worst Housing Correction since The Great Depression" and how it has impacted Centex and how finance is responding. Derek van Bever, chief research officer at the Corporate Executive Board, will talk about his new book, "Stall Points: Most Companies Stop Growing--Yours Doesn't Have To" (Yale University Press, April 2008).

Bill Emmott, former editor of The Economist, will talk about the current economy. David Walker, the former Comptroller General of the United States, will address the problem of the mounting federal debt in light of the recently passed bailout bill.

The conference will have a timely panel on the International Financial Reporting Standards which the SEC is requiring to be adopted. The change to IFRS might start as early as 2011. The panel includes board members from FASB and PCAOB.

The Phoenix CEO-CFO Group has a rare opportunity to attend this conference at half price. (See the agenda at http://www.cfoconferences.com/risingw2008/agenda.shtml )
